Panasonic TX-P37X20B 37-inch Widescreen HD Ready 100Hz Plasma TV with Freeview

Panasonic TX-P37X20B 37-inch Widescreen HD Ready 100Hz Plasma TV with Freeview Review

We are very pleased with the performance of this Panasonic 37inch plasma TV which has now been in use for two weeks. It arrived quickly by courier and it was just a matter of unplugging the two scart plugs from my old 32inch lcd TV and inserting them into the new. The family were very happy with the factory settings and urged me not to fiddle with them just yet. Why only four stars? Well I haven't fully utilised HD yet as I am in the process of updating my Sky+ to Sky HD and won't be getting HD pictures until then. I chose Plasma because I consider it to be a bit softer on the eyes. One thing we did notice is that there is a reflection from the glass protecting the plasma screen which only my wife can see because she sits directly in front of it but she says it doesn't affect her viewing when the TV is switched on. I did notice that the large plasma screens in pubs, restaurants, etc also show a reflection but no one else seemed to notice until I pointed it out to them.

NICE, EXCEPT FOR... - Jojo Allen - Liverpool
I received this TV yesterday.
It was pretty much a case of 'plug it in and go' and, while I'm basically satisfied with it's performance, I am wondering why there are faint vertical waves on the screen whenever it's dark or even during a darker scene.
I replaced my old Scart cables with expensive new shielded ones thinking it might help but it hasn't really changed anything.
This is my first plasma screen.
Might the waves I'm seeing be typical with this type of TV?
Or is it most likely originating somewhere in the setup between the TV, DVD player and cable box?
If anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated.

I've had this Plasma T.V for 2 days now and like many didn't know whether to buy a plasma or LCD.
First of all I'm very impressed with the depth of the picture, the picture appearance & clarity watching freeview channels and playing the PS3 is fantastic, playing DVD's through HDMI DVD player is also superb, I haven't even played a Blu-Ray film yet but I know this is going to be excellent as well.
The TV is easy to set up and install - power on and it does everything for you.
For the money it is excellent value, I treated myself for the World Cup this year.

Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview

Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview Review

Bought this Panasonic to replace a Samsung LCD 40" TV, which was to be fair, pretty damn good. However, as with all LCD screens, depth is sadly lacking and ocassionally, motion blur can occur, for instance whilst watching the ball in a football or rugby match. I looked at all the reviews for both LCD and plasma, then did some further in-shop research and decided to go for the 42" plasma. At 37 kgs, it is no lightweight, but these are generation 2, so much lighter than the earlier model which tipped the scales at 45kgs. As other reviewers have commented, picture quality is brilliant, with rich vibrant colours and that all important depth of field. No motion blur either. Rear connections are well catered for, although disappointing to see no optical digital (Toslink) output. This TV can be wall mounted, but at 37kgs, be careful just where you do mount it. As my other AV equipment is Panasonic, Viera Link connects all with just one remote control. Built-in Freeview tuner is sensitive and easy to use. It used to be said that Plasma TV's eat the lecky, but here are some interesting facts; Samsung 40" LCD consumed 183 watts whilst this Panasonic uses 186 watts. Clearly the energy use gap is narrowing. My son-in-law has an early Panasonic Plasma 37" which uses 386 watts, so Panasonic have obviously done some work here. Please do bear in mind that despite all the HDMI and component inputs/outputs, this TV is HD Ready. It is NOT full HD. However, this only really becomes apparent if you watch a Blu-ray DVD close up. Easy solution is don't sit too close to the screen, then you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Sound quality from any flat screen TV is not going to be brilliant, and here this is also very much the case. Hook it all up to a home cinema system and it is no an longer an issue.
The price?. Well, quite simply, you won't find a better entry level plasma TV from any of the major brands. So don't leave it too late.

Plasma Problems - J Edwards -
If you are considering buying a Plasma TV, check with your local Radio Investigaion Service first. Plasma Sets are known for radiating RF (radio frequency)noise from the screen, which is picked up on your broadcast radio receivers. It is also a potential source of interference to aeronautical services. Also, if radiated noise gets onto your phone line, the noise can slow down your internet connection (information being sent down the line has problems due to noise on the line). Do a search for 'Plasma TV QRM' or 'Plasma TV Interference' on Youtube and see what the interference sounds like. Not nice!

Panasonic Plasma TV - C. R. Crane - UK
Entry level plasma television from Panasonic's 2009 X10 range. Excellent value with smooth picture. Onlt 100hz and 720P OR 1080I resolution but definition is excellent and the picture is much better (smoother, faster, more realistic) than equivalent LCD's at similar price points. Excellent HD picture too.

Would recommend.

Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview - Mr. R. Lunn - UK
I bought this Television bout 5 weeks ago. along with Promount Swivel & Tilt Cantilever Arm LED Plasma LCD TV Wall Mount VESA Bracket For Panasonic Wide flat screen panel TV's 37 40 42 46 48 50.

Both items were delivered together within 4 working day.

I collected them from my parents house (where I had them delivered) the following weekend with my girlfriend. We easily managed to load and unload the car although the bracket was suprisingly heavier that it looks but still not a problem.

Assembling and fixing to the wall was straight forward for both bracket and telly. Would have taken me an hour but i need to nip out and purchase a 12mm drill bit to fix the bracket to the wall.

The bracket has a handy inbuilt spirit level which made leveling the bracket easier (slightly ackward holding bracket in place to mark where to dill the holes due to the weight of the bracket) although having the bracket level points out the wall paper I hung a few weeks before isn;t quiet level (maybe next time I need to purchase the wall paper with an inbuilt spirit level lol!!).

Know the viewing the bracket allows for a range of angles and I can nearly get the telly all the way to the corner of the room with the arm at full extention (usually in middle of 4m wall).

The set up was very simple and I was view my new telly in no time. I do not have Sky HD or Blue ray player so cannot comment on the HD quality but the standard quality in execellent for sports films and general tv viewing.
The number of connectionis also execellent with standard TVa airel, 2x scart, 2x HDMI, PC socket and others. (I wont particularly use all these but is worth bearing in mind as my sister purchased a similar telly recently and it didn;t have half the conections of the Panisonic).

All in All
Completly happy with both purchase and the order/delivery process.

Great buy - TinD - Dorset
After shopping around Amazon offered the best price on this TV. It was so easy to set up; just fix the stand, plug in and switch the power on and the set did the rest (bearing in mind I am a female and not clued up technically)I am using it with Freeview. The picture quality is fantastic, the sound quality superb, I was worried that the size of the set would be overpowering in the room but it's perfect. I wasn't looking for a all singing all dancing TV and realise that Panasonic have already advanced the technology on this TV however I am more than happy with my purchase.

Samsung PS50C450 50-inch 600Hz Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview

Samsung PS50C450 50-inch 600Hz Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview Review

Ordered on the Sunday and it arrived on Wednesday, so service was excellent on free Super Saver Delivery. Fairly straightforward to get the stand assembled and it looked good even before I switched it on. Looks classy with the minimalist border around the screen.

Start-up menu could have been explained better but soon had all the Freeview channels stored. The picture was good enough on standard definition but nothing could have prepared me for the clarity and detail of High Definition through my Sky+HD box. Colours were pure and punchy and sharp both for sport and nature. Sound from the TV was far better than I expected though I will get a Dolby Digital system later.

All in all, for the price you should not hesitate if you're thinking of a TV this size, especially with the World Cup coming up.

Panasonic Viera TX-P37C2B 37-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview

Panasonic Viera TX-P37C2B 37-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview Review

I have long had a mental 'price point' of under £400 for a 37" Plasma. This narrows the field somewhat as pretty much the only manufacturer to produce this screen size in Plasma technology is Panasonic. When this model became available on Amazon at £399.99, I plumped for it instantly. I am a TV Cameraman and previously would have only ever bought a Sony TV (they were, and I emphasise WERE the best for many years). However, in my view, the only screen technology to produce truly realistic pictures (especially on standard definition, which we still watch a lot of) is Plasma. LCD is cheaper, more durable and fully HD resolution even at smaller screen sizes - but - the blacks are dark greys and flesh tones and highlights, especially on studio scenes, often look plastic and unrealistic. Add to this the 'lag' in response time of the LCD and it's to be avoided in my opinion. As Sony dumped Plasma when they introduced their LCD Bravia sets, I looked to Panasonic.

This TV is a brilliant no-frills set. It has everything I need and produces deep blacks, good flesh tones and has no flicker or lag. The contrast range of the screen is incredible. The menus are simple and logical, the plain piano-black finish is unobtrusive and the power switch is on the front - not buried away at the back if you are not a 'leave it on standby' person. It only has two HDMI's but you can easily add an adaptor for extras if you need them. It also plays AVCHD movies via the built in SD-XC slot. As a Lumix TZ-7 Camera owner, I can view my home movies straight on the TV - fantastic! My only real criticism so far is that the sound is pretty hollow. Copious fiddling with the bass, treble and equaliser menus allow you correct this to an acceptably full sound but you wouldn't want to rely on it for watching films - a separate Dolby decoder or speakers would be needed. Also, the picture 'out-of-box' is unimpressive. I thought I'd made a huge mistake at first. Again, playing with menus for half an hour, you soon realise that there is plenty of latitude to hone the picture to your tastes. For me, this is the 'true cinema' setting with the brightness down a couple of notches, contrast and colour up a notch each.

If you don't need an all-singing, all-dancing, multi input TV and you can't afford a Samsung LED (which themselves have problems with fast motion), this is (trust me) a MUCH better investment than an equivalent LCD.
